The first was Wood Poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum). There are currently only three known sites for this species in all of Canada.
The second was Drooping Trillium (Trillium flexipes). This species is quite similar to Nodding Trillium (Trillium cernuum), but a range overlap doesn't occur (in Ontario). There were up to six known sites for this species historically, however, currently there are only two sites in all of Canada.
Some nice shots, Quinten. As both species are legally endangered I'm glad you didn't mention where they are found. It has been awhile since I have seen and photographed them, so your post is a nice reminder.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Quinten! Glad that you got to see the flowers.
